Superdelegate gap - 24

In last 7 days, the superdelegate gap has narrowed even more.

Barack Obama has gained 7 delegates (think of it as 1 per day) while Hillary Clinton lost 2 delegates (who are now uncommited).

According to Politico superdelegate counter the gap is now 24 superdelegates.

Is it still an avalance if you are buried not by boulder but by many, many pebbles?

Last seven days in detail:

April 7

New Obama endorsements:
Montana DNC Margaret Campbell
North Dakota Add-On Dan Hannaher

Change from Clinton to Uncommitted:
According to a recent DNC list, Louisiana DNC Mary Lou Winters -- a Clinton superdelegate -- was replaced by Elsie Burkhalter, who is undecided.

April 6

Change from Clinton to Uncommitted:
Utah DNC Helen Langan. She told NPR she doesn't know who she'd vote for at the convention if it were held today.

April 5

New Add-On superdelegates:

Missouri: Jay Nixon and Susan Montee. Montee has endorsed Obama.

Washington, DC: Yvette Alexander and Harry Thomas, Jr. Alexander has endorsed Obama.

Delaware: Rob Carver. Carver has endorsed Obama.

April 2

New Obama endorsements: 2

Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal

Montana DNC John Melcher

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (2.00 / 1)

Montana DNC Margaret Campbell retracted her endorsement.

From Ben Smith:

"They really seem to mean something different to every superdelegate.

The AP just moved this story out of Helena:

Montana superdelegate Margaret Campbell says she is being forced to retract her endorsement of Barack Obama.

Campbell is a state lawmaker from Poplar, and vice chairwoman of the state party.

Earlier today she said she was endorsing Obama, after the Illinois senator and rival Hillary Clinton visited Montana over the weekend.

A short time later, Campbell said Montana Democratic Party rules prevented her from endorsing a candidate in a contested primary."

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (none / 0)

She retracted her "official endorsement". But she'll still vote for him at the convention. You can add her to the total safely.

I think we all know where the trend is, so you don't need to rub it in to us Clinton supporters.

sheesh (2.00 / 1)

I was simply reporting.

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (2.00 / 1)

He was just sharing some good news with us, just as you guys do about your candidate.

But this shouldn't be a surprise. Clinton's always been counting on a late SD shift based on her winning several of the final primaries. But even she knew that until then, some SDs would migrate over to Obama.

Why is any good news for Obama "rubbing it in"?

Would you rather we wrote diaries trashing Hillary?

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (none / 0)

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (none / 0)

I wish Hilary and all her supporters would leave the democratic party and start their own party.  Hillary is not a democrat and neither are her supporters.  So go whine to someone who cares bc its  not Obama supporters...go start your nown party bc the Democratic party has been hijacked by Obama and his young, smart, latte sipping educated wealthy supporters.

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (none / 0)

One wonders if many of these superdelegates realized how much people would be hanging on their every word.

by NewOaklandDem on Mon Apr 07, 2008 at 05:59:22 PM EST

You can count Campbell, because (none / 0)

they don't sign some binding pledge card. The MSM tallies are the "feelings" they get from the Supers. Those 50 super delegates that Brokaw talked about exist. i think the one a day average was the plan ALL along. HRC's Super lead should be in single digits, and down to ZERO by NC/IN. PERFECT timing.
NO 100 year WAR, NO McConnell run Senate, & NO GOP-led Supreme Court!!!

Re: Superdelegate gap - 24 (none / 0)

Good news keeps coming for Obama!

This is wonderful.  I really like the idea of one a day...He will be ahead in SD by the time we get to PA?

Those NC SD's still waiting in the wings (none / 0)

Just a matter of time before they endorse.
The way the polling and momentum are going in NC they would be nuts not to endorse Obama.

I LOVE seeing Hillary going down in flames!

Obama 08.  Because ethics and integrity matter.
