The _______Game

Let play a game.

The rule is: where you see a ___________ you put in the name of your favored presidential candidate, one of the two candidates still in the running.

Its the end of the primary season, then the end of the convention and ___________ is the nominee. The other candidate is not. There is some anger around and disappointment. Of course in the GE race between ___________ and McCain, there are still issues that matter. And votes that need to be cast in great numbers... all of us... together.

So what are my choices, you ask  yourself?

  • For example, ___________ will appoint decent Supreme Court judges while McDecider will appoint ones who will overturn Roe vs. Wade, ones who will continue the destruction of our civil liberties.
  • ___________ will work to reform, improve and fund healthcare and education, while McLobbyist will continue doing what Bush is doing now. You know that "I love the lobbyist" and I want them and their companies to get paid bit.
  • ___________ will focus on fixing the economy while McBillionsOnWar, will spend more money on .... of course, war.
  • And speaking about the war, ___________ will work to get our troups out while McWar will send your sons, your daughters, you grandchildren, your grand-grand children< there for 100 years.
  • McOilMan will probably invade more countries, destroy the Antarctic for oil. Of course, ___________ will fund alternative energy sources like wind and solar. Encourage development of eco friendlier car.

Got your candidate written in?
Now imagine the other candidate won the nomination and you are mad and saying you won't vote for them.

Look at the issues above. Then ...

  • Look at your kids playing on the floor, the ones who will pay the heaviest prices of McCain presidency.
  • Look atyour spouse who is shaking their head at the gasoline receipts.

  • Your mother who is worried about her Enron destroyed retirement.

  • Your father ladened with hospital bills.

  • Your friends worried sick about their siblings in Iraq.

Look at all those you are responsible to when you cast your vote in November. Look them in the eyes.

Who will it be? Candidate ___________ who shares your values or McDisaster?

Convincing people...the hard way

Walking a mile in ones shoes can be tough. But lets try it.

Some arguments I've been hearing lately are:

I will not be blackmailed into voting for Obama in GE just because he would:

  • appoint decent Supreme Court judges
  • try to fix the economy
  • Get us out of Iraq
  • implement a healthcare plan that better anything McCain would do
  • would work to fix education

Ok let jump forward.
Its August, Hillary successfully convinced SDs to vote for her based on electability and popular vote and is now the nominee.

What exactly are you planning to tell your fellow Obama supporters who are at this point are disgusted with the result?
Remember, there are millions of them, you'll need their vote, in GE.

That Hillary will what?

  • appoint decent Supreme Court judges
  • try to fix the economy
  • Get us out of Iraq
  • implement a healthcare plan that better anything McCain would do
  • would work to fix education

What in the world would you tell Obama supporters to get their vote in GE that has not been said by Obama supporters in that last few month about how HRC supporters need to get behind Obama if he is the nominee?

And how would you then respond to the charge that they are being blackmailed?

Obama Supporters Congratulate Hillary Supporters Diary

I want to congratulate Hillary and her supporters on the win in West Virginia. I know her GOTV operation there was excellent and that got a lot of voters energized. That absolutely rocks.

Any Obama supporters who want to join me in this, kindly post here.

Maybe REC this up so HRC supporters can see it?

Obama Supporters Congratulate Hillary Supporters Diary

I want to congratulate Hillary and her supporters on the win in Indiana. I know a lot of them worked and donated their tails off. That is something I am always proud of because energized citizenry is what we really need.

Any Obama supporters who want to join me in this, kindly post here.

Maybe REC this up so HRC supporters can see it?

Superdelegates: +1 for Obama so far today

Obama picked up yet another superdelegate endorsement this morning from Native American activist Kalyn Free.

"As a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, I am proud of what it means to be an American Indian. I am proud Barack Obama is committed to our unique issues and willing to tackle our toughest problems, from historical inequities and injustices to contemporary issues, like protection of our right to tribal self-determination, access to health care for our elders, and education for our children. Despite the threats that have faced our culture and our people, hope has lifted Indian people through the most difficult times. Because we remain connected to our past, our culture and our communities, we never gave up that hope. American Indians need not just progressive ideas but new and visionary leadership that inspire us to build a better future for all Americans. No President alone can rebuild the American public after eight years of George Bush's disastrous policies and poisonous politics. I support Senator Obama because I believe the only way to rebuild America is to rebuild what makes us great - the hope and drive of the American people.

This of course is not the first Native American SD for Obama

"I [Kalyn Free] am proud to stand in solidarity with another DNC Indian superdelegates Frank LaMere (Winnebago) in support of America's best hope for a better tomorrow, Senator Barack Obama."

source

Superdelegates: Obama +5, Clinton +1 (updated)

Obama:
Brian Colon, the Democratic Party Chairman in New Mexico.
South Carolina add-on, former State Education Superintendent Inez Tenenbaum.
Maryland add-on, former Gov. Parris Glendening.
Jaime Paulino (Guam) - an Obama supporter
Pilar Lujan (Guam) - undecided but on record stating she will support the popular vote winner in Guam. (pending recount I am assuming)

Clinton:
Maryland add-on, former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend.

So far +4 margin for Obama. The gap is closing fast.

What we learned this election season

(Crossposted from Big Orange Satan)

Things I have learned during this campaign season:

In a race that includes a former First Lady of the United States and a multimillionaire Republican senator rumored to share up to eight residences with his wife, the black guy from Chicago is unforgivably elitist.

Racism in America is caused primarily by black Chicago preachers.

The guy who keeps getting confused over the relationship between Iraq, Iran, and al Qaeda is the foreign policy expert.

The guy who goes to campaign stops on his wife's private jet aircraft is the most down-to-earth.

The guy who changed his stance on tax cuts, Roe v. Wade, immigration, gun control, the confederate flag, torture, public financing, and his own anti-earmark rhetoric is the "straight talker".

People in the heartland don't like it when you call them bitter, but they do like it when you explain to them that they're too dumb to understand issues more important than whether or not they like to be called bitter.

Arugula is the measure of a man.

Bowling is the measure of a man.

Orange juice is the measure of a man.

Flag pins are the measure of a man.

Success in Iraq consists of any reduction in violence, except when violence increases that's good too.

A recession is only a recession if you call it one.

Bill Kristol, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Karl Rove, Maureen Dowd, David Brooks, David Broder, Charles Krauthammer and Bob Novak are all intensely interested in giving advice to the Democratic candidates because they just want to be helpful.

There are people in this world dumb enough to believe every one of these things.

He should drop out...?

I am absolutely loving how for months now the same people who say Obama supporters should not tell Hillary to drop out, waddle over to the next diary and start yelling about how he is unelectable and should drop out now. You know who you are.

Let me put it plainly.

If Hillary was up ~160 some delegates, won 30+ states, had popular vote, and had a problem with "The Family" pastor you would never say she needs to drop out.

Instead you'd be telling Obama supporters how he can not win now.

So please, kindly, go outside, take a walk in a park, hug your kids. Then come back and continue posting what you are posting now.  Or maybe not.

Maybe the fresh air will do you good. Maybe something will change.
